Recently, I've been making a little bit of money taking portrait-style photos of people......I've done a friend's wedding (my very first & she had all the confidence in the world in my photography abilities....I was slightly nervous about it.....) I've done some Senior pictures for a few high school graduates....I've even done some children's photos as a gift for Father's Day. I'll  get to uploading them as soon as possible. I got pretty behind with all my submissions but I've really been trying to get them uploaded within the past few days (as all my watchers can clearly tell ;)

I always thought that I'd rather be a nature photographer rather than being a portrait photographer, but I'm actually learning that it's not nearly as stressful as I had originally thought. The extra money is nice and although it's not a huge amount, it's just a really cool feeling to earn money by doing something that you love to do :D

New lens kit :D

3 min read
I've been missing my 'macro-photography' ever since getting my new camera back in November 2012. Seeing as how my new Nikon D3200 was a pretty expensive one, (I'll be paying on it for awhile.....) I figured that a seperate Nikon-brand  macro lens would be VERY expensive (and indeed, it WAS.......) so I finally decided to just go with a non-Nikon lens kit that I ordered from eBay. It came with a handy-dandy camera-carrying case (which I REALLY needed) & inside of it were 4 macro lenses, which are technically called 'diopter add-on filters' numbered +1, +2, +4, & +10.........3 other filters: UV, polarized, & flourescent....a wide angle lens (which is in two parts, a smaller band with the word 'macro' on it, & a larger 'lens' that has '0.45X' printed on it)......a hood (to help shield the sun, I'm guessing to help with lens flare?)  It also came with a lens-cleaning kit & a small table-top tripod.
Needless to say, I've been in a sort of photography-induced frenzy, taking macro shots of almost everything I see, kinda like back a couple of years ago when I received my very first little Olympus camera, that had a macro & super-macro setting ;)
The 'macro' lenses (or diopter filter add-ons) work very similiar to the macro & super-macro settings that are on my little old camera.....I still want an actual macro lens, though, but I guess I'll just have to wait until I get my camera paid off first. And the add-ons I have now will just have to satisfy me until I CAN :\
I read that the filters I have will produce a bit of peripheral distortion in my photos because of their curved field of focus. Actual macro lenses are flat fields, and do not have the distortion.
Also, I still haven't fully grasped how to use my new camera in Manual mode, & I'm almost certain that my current 'macro-shots would come out a little better if I could only learn to use it that way. I almost feel like a sort of, POSER.....like I'm not a real photographer, because of that fact.
But when I go out into the world with my camera, it's like therapy for me. So I won't stop doing what I love to do & I'll keep trying to master my new camera in Manual mode.  Wish me luck......................

I have the most awesome Auntie in the entire universe (or is it multiverse, now??) She offered to get a camera for me & all I have to do is pay her back $40 a month for 18 months.....it was a deal too sweet to pass up!!

I chose a Nikon D3200 & it's gonna take some time to learn how to use it properly. I hope to someday soon get out of the AUTO settings and start using it manually......but I know baby steps must forever come first ;)

I have to finish uploading some photos from my old camera before I begin to upload the first ones I've taken with my new one.......coming ASAP :D :D :D :D

To my watchers who actually pay attention, I wanted to let you know that I have decided to clean up my gallery, mostly by dividing my photos into seperate folders (which I FINALLY learned how to do.....I am so hopelessly technologically ignorant......)
Anyway, I figured that it would make it a lot easier to find certain photos, PLUS it gives me a chance to edit some of my older deviations, ones that would benefit from my new nifty photo-editing software (I'll mostly be editing the clarity, exposure, & color saturation, and I'll probably just be deleting some of my photos....)
So, please, just bear with me, as I know I have a huge job ahead of me and LONG way to go....I have well over a thousand photos in my gallery, this may take some time ;)

I've always known that I'm not one to follow the crowd, in fact, I'm usually in my own little world. But, at the same time, I'm very aware of the circling wolves in sheep's clothing...I've learned a LOT of hard lessons, and although I get a little more cynical with each life experience, I also get stronger and, I hope, somewhat wiser.....I'm a FIRM believer in reaping what you sow......Possessing a soft heart has also given birth to the edge in my personality, the world is a cruelly beautiful place..........
Nature keeps me mesmerized and I have this knack for noticing the tiny things of it, the things that no one else notices. Chances are great that you may see me out walking around, snapping photos of just whatever may be catching my eye at the moment. I got my first camera, finally, in January 2010....a little Olympus 7010 digital camera. Last Fall, 2012, I received a Nikon D3200 (still paying on it ;)
Music is another form of escape for me and is a second love (next to photography, & I'm a TOTAL amateur) For me, music is whatever sounds pleasing to my soul, whether it be in the music, the lyrics or, sometimes if I'm lucky, BOTH ;)
The stars, the moon and the night sky in general have held my fascination ever since I can remember remembering anything.
I have an affinity for spirals: I am aware of and I fully appreciate the deeper meaning that lies underneath them.
I believe in being considerate towards other people, but I DO have my limitations.....I am often convinced that most, if not ALL, other people are complete, inconsiderate idiots :\
As much as the beautiful, natural world appeals to my senses, I also relish the world of horror and the macabre........to me, strange is stunning ;) And I often find myself wandering who would come to my funeral if I were to die today.......
I love my two teenage daughters more than life itself, and everything I do, I do it for them.
Watching them grow up has been both rewarding and heartbreaking, (& they have the coolest mom in the world, but sometimes I'm not sure if they know that or not......)
To wake up every morning is the best gift one can receive, as it would suck to die in your sleep......
